A synagogue kiddush: weekday or Shabbat

The aliyah is on a Monday, a Thursday or Shabbat, and each needs a different order.

A bar mitzvah at home: 40 guests in the living room

What arrives

For a full meal for 40: 2 mini pita trays, 3 meatball trays, 2 schnitzel strip trays, 4 salad trays, 3 pots of couscous or kubbeh and a pita basket. 15 vessels holding about 23 kg of food.

One oven

Heat in rounds: first the pots and meatballs, covered, then the schnitzel strips last, 8 to 10 minutes at 180°C uncovered, so they reach the table crisp.

Fridge

The salad and mini pita trays need fridge space until serving. Clear two shelves before the food arrives.

A kids' table

Children eat about half and like to eat with their hands. A schnitzel strip tray and a mini pita tray on a separate table keep them out of the queue at the pots.

A bat mitzvah party

An evening bat mitzvah party at home suits light trays, about 340 g a guest, with no pots and no long reheating.

Adults, children and vegetarians at one event

Children

Half a portion, by hand

Schnitzel strips, mini sabich and pita. Enter the number of children separately in the planner, which counts each child as half.

Teens

Food on their feet

With the pita meal everyone chooses: schnitzel, chicken breast or sabich, in a pita or on a plate.

Grandparents

Food from the pot

Couscous with beef and vegetables, meatballs in sauce and beet kubbeh, at the table.

Vegetarians

No meat

Sabich, aja, shakshuka and salads, or a tray of fish patties in tomato sauce. Write in the request how many such meals you need.

Allergens

Gluten, egg, sesame

Our dishes contain them: in the pita, semolina and coating, in egg and in tahini. For a specific sensitivity, talk to us before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

What is a bar mitzvah ceremony?

A bar mitzvah marks the age at which a boy takes on the commandments, 13. In most communities he is called up to the Torah in the synagogue, on a Monday, a Thursday or Shabbat, followed by a kiddush and a family celebration. A bat mitzvah is at 12, usually with a party or a meal.

How much does bar mitzvah catering cost?

A meat meal at home is ₪69 to ₪79 a guest, VAT included, and kiddush trays about ₪42 to ₪54 a guest. For 50 guests that is ₪3,450 for the pita meal, or ₪2,417 for a kiddush. In Israel, catering with waiters runs ₪120 to ₪160 a guest.

What is served at a synagogue kiddush?

Food eaten standing: mini pitas with sabich and aja, schnitzel strips, meatballs in sauce and salads, about 340 g a guest. At a Shabbat kiddush, only what is eaten cold.

How much food for a bar mitzvah of 50?

For a full meal about 29 kg of food, about 580 g a guest. For a kiddush only, about 17 kg. Children eat about half, so enter them separately in the planner.

Can you cater a Shabbat bar mitzvah?

Yes. The order closes on Wednesday at 20:00 and the food arrives on Friday between 09:00 and 13:00. For Shabbat, choose what is eaten cold, and pots only if there is a hot plate.

Is the food suitable for the synagogue?

The kitchen is meat and pareve, with no dairy dishes. Many synagogues require a specific supervision, so ask the gabbai, and for questions about supervision call us before ordering.

Do you provide waiters?

No. The food arrives ready and you serve it yourselves. That is why a meat meal costs ₪69 to ₪79 a guest, not ₪120 to ₪160.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Menu meals start at 10 guests, trays at 2 trays. There is no minimum of 30 or 50 guests, as with many caterers.

Hungry now?

For one dish or a few at home: price, extras and availability are in the ordering menu, or by phone.
